He smiled and kissed her softly. “Here, lay down, we’ll lie them between us.”
She wriggled over to make more room, an effort that exhausted her more than she cared to admit. She held Nick until Davey got settled.
He laid down on his side and set Edward down on his back between them, smiling softly.
“They’re so perfect,” she murmured. She couldn’t wait to see their eyes open.
“They are.” he said, brushing a finger over their cheeks. “I’m so glad they’re here now.”
“I’ve never seen anything so beautiful,” she whispered, her eyelids were getting heavy, but she wanted to watch them more than she wanted sleep.
He kissed her forehead. “Get some rest, you deserve it.” he said softly.
“Be here when I wake up?” She asked.
“I will, I promise.” he said, kissing her forehead again.
“I love you,” she murmured, smiling tiredly.
“I love you too.” he said softly. “Get some rest.”
She nodded, snuggling back against the pillows. Her eyes slid shut, she fell asleep smiling.

A second sound of cries joined the first and the doctor smiled, handing the baby off to another nurse. “Congratulations, you did wonderfully.” she said, quickly cleaning Hannah up.
Davey smiled and pulled his hand from on of Hannahs, wiping the sweat off her face with the end of the sheet. “You are amazing.” he said, kissing her cheek.
“Can I see them?” She asked, her voice was quiet from exhaustion and screaming. She wanted to see her babies, hold them.
One of the nurses brought over the first born, wrapped tightly in a blanket. “He’s perfectly healthy.” she said, smiling as she handed him to Hannah. Davey sniffed slightly, head resting against Hannahs.
Hannah-Claire cradled him gently. “Look at him,” she grinned, looking down at the tiny boy. She wanted to see them both beside each other before they decided which was Nicholas and which was Edward.
The other nurse brought over the other baby, handing him to Davey. He smiled and cradled him gently, leaning close to Hannah. “They’re perfect.”
She leaned down, kissing each baby’s forehead. “Our beautiful little lads,” she smiled. “I think this is our Nicholas,” she said, looking down at the baby in her own arms.
He smiled and looked at the boy in her arms. “Because he’s ginger like me?” he chuckled, kissing her cheek.
She chuckled, “He just looks more like a Nick.” She said. Her mother had had red hair as well. But Nick was all Davey, she could see as much all ready.
“Nicholas and Edward.” he said softly, looking between them both. “Hannah, I love you.”
“I love you, Davey,” she smiled sleepily, leaning in and kissing him softly.
